Data, cookies and users’ rights (GDPR).
BlaBLaTeX places great importance on protecting your data. This policy explains, in a transparent way, what information is processed when you use the service, why, for how long, and what rights you may exercise under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
1. Data controller
The data controller is the publisher of the “BlaBLaTeX” service. For any question related to data protection, you can use the contact form.
2. Data processed
- Account: last name, first name, email address, password (hashed), preferences.
- Service usage: LaTeX projects, imported files, version histories, comments, compilation settings.
- Technical data: server logs, IP address, browser/device information, timestamps.
- Support: messages sent and related metadata.
- Payment: information required for payment via a payment provider (no card number is stored by BlaBLaTeX).
3. Purposes and legal bases

4. Retention periods
- Account and projects: kept for the duration of the subscription. If the subscription expires, access (login, editing, compilation, collaboration) is disabled. Before deactivation, you can export your projects. Data is then securely deleted in accordance with the retention policy, or earlier upon request.
- Billing: kept for the periods required by applicable regulations.
- Technical logs: kept for a limited period, proportionate to security and diagnostic needs.
5. Data hosting
Data is hosted in the European Union. The service does not organize transfers of data outside the EU as part of its normal operation.
6. Cookies and analytics
BlaBLaTeX uses:
- Essential cookies required for operation (authentication, technical preferences).
- Analytics that is limited and non-intrusive; where required, your consent is collected.
You can delete or block cookies in your browser settings (Settings → Privacy → Cookies).
7. Recipients and processors
Your data may be shared, only when necessary, with:
- technical providers (hosting, backups, email) acting on behalf of BlaBLaTeX;
- a payment provider to process payments (BlaBLaTeX does not access card numbers);
- authorities where required by law.
These providers act under instructions and within a contractual framework compliant with the GDPR.
8. Security
- Encryption of communications (HTTPS/TLS).
- Access controls and logging.
- Regular backups and restore tests.
- Security updates and operational monitoring.
