Terms of Use
Rules for using the BlaBLaTeX service
These Terms of Use govern the use of the “BlabLaTeX” service. By using the site and its features, you agree to these Terms.
1. Purpose
BlabLaTeX is an online collaborative LaTeX writing service, including project hosting, compilation, sharing and collaboration tools.
The service is based on Overleaf Community Edition (open-source project under the AGPLv3 licence). BlabLaTeX is neither affiliated with nor sponsored by Overleaf. The features provided correspond to the scope of the Community Edition; the commercial “Pro” features of Overleaf are not part of the service. Technical adaptations and optimisations may be implemented to operate the service, without altering these principles. Components covered by AGPLv3 remain distributed in accordance with that licence.
2. Acceptance
Accessing or using the service constitutes full and unconditional acceptance of these Terms of Use. If you do not agree, please do not use the service.
3. Access & availability
- The service is in principle available 24/7. However, interruptions may occur (maintenance, updates, incidents).
- Events beyond our control may affect availability: power outages, network operator failures, hardware incidents, security threats, etc.
- We use reasonable efforts to ensure continuity and security, but cannot guarantee uninterrupted service.
4. Account & security
- Creating an account requires providing accurate and up-to-date information.
- You are responsible for keeping your login details confidential and for any activity carried out from your account.
- If you suspect unauthorised use, change your password and notify us via the contact form.
5. Subscription & payment
- The service is offered as a yearly subscription of 12 months, at the price shown on the “Pricing” section.
- Renewal is not automatic; you choose whether or not to renew at the end of the term.
- Payments are processed by a certified payment provider. We do not store your card numbers.
- No refunds: once the subscription is activated, no refund is owed for the current period, unless mandatory legal provisions require otherwise.
6. Term, suspension & termination
- These Terms apply for the entire duration of your use of the service.
- In the event of a breach of the Terms, a security issue, non-payment or fraud, access to the service may be suspended or terminated.
- At the end of a subscription that is not renewed, editing and compilation features are suspended.
7. Acceptable use
- You agree to comply with applicable laws and the rights of third parties.
- You must not upload or distribute illegal or malicious content, or content that undermines security (malware, exploit scripts, etc.).
- Your use must not harm the availability of the service (attacks, overload, bypassing protections).
- In case of abnormal activity, we may apply protective measures (temporary limits, blocking, etc.) to preserve service stability.
8. Intellectual property
The elements of the site (interfaces, code, graphics, trademarks) are protected by intellectual property law. Your own content and projects remain your property; you grant us the technical rights necessary to provide the service (hosting, backup, transmission, compilation).
9. Personal data
The processing of personal data is described in the Privacy Policy.
10. Support
You can contact us via the contact form. We make reasonable efforts to respond quickly (typically within 24 hours on business days).
11. Warranties & liability
- The service is provided “as is”. We do not warrant that it will be error-free, uninterrupted, or compatible with all environments.
- We cannot be held liable for unavailability resulting from external causes (power outages, operator failures, weather events, attacks, etc.).
- You are responsible for protecting your equipment and files against viruses, ransomware and intrusions (antivirus, updates, good practices).
- To the extent permitted by law, our aggregate liability, on any legal basis, is limited to the total amount paid by the user for the subscription during the last twelve (12) months.
- We shall not be liable for indirect losses: loss of revenue or profit, loss of data, loss of reputation, etc.
12. Maintenance & updates
Planned or emergency maintenance operations may be carried out. Where possible, prior notice will be given. Technical and security updates may temporarily modify the appearance or behaviour of the service.
13. Security
- Use of encrypted communications (HTTPS/TLS) and security measures appropriate to the level of risk.
- Operational monitoring and security fixes.
- You must use strong passwords and must not share your login credentials.
14. Force majeure
We shall not be liable where the performance of our obligations is prevented or delayed by a force majeure event within the meaning of French law (natural disasters, acts of third parties, strikes, widespread operator failures, etc.).
15. External links
The site may contain links to third-party websites. We have no control over these resources and accept no responsibility for their content or availability.
16. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms for legal or technical reasons. In the event of a material change, a notice may be displayed on the site. Continued use of the service after the update constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
17. Governing law & jurisdiction
These Terms of Use are governed by French law. Subject to mandatory provisions, the courts of the publisher’s registered office shall have exclusive jurisdiction.
